After breakfast at your hotel you'll enjoy a tour of Santiago. You'll visit the city's historic center where you'll find the Plaza de Armas, the main cathedral, and the Presidential Palace. You will also have the chance to view the city from the top of Cerro San Cristobal. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure, shopping, eating, and exploring to your heart's content.
Today you'll visit two of central Chile's most popular coastal cities: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Valparaiso is a vibrant, colorful collection of hillside houses overlooking the bay. Here you'll visit the one-time summer house (now a museum) of Pablo Neruda, one of Chile's most prolific poets. You'll then continue to the tranquil Viña del Mar, a popular beachside retreat for the Santiago elite.
Welcome to Patagonia, one of the most remarkable landscapes in all of South America. You'll land in Punta Arenas, where a guide will meet you and escort you to the icy wonderland of Torres del Paine National Park.
Begin the W Trek! This morning you'll hike 9-10hrs up to 2,850 feet elevation to visit Las Torres, which are amongst the most famous mountains in the world. These three towering peaks, which give the park its name, soar at a breathtaking 9,350 feet. Enjoy comfortable, modest lodging in the Central Sector of the Park.
Today you'll hike 4.5-6.5hrs with an elevation gain of 650 feet to Los Cuernos (“the horns”). These three mountains compete with Las Torres for the prettiest in the Park, standing at up to 8,500 feet. The different rocks that make up this massif create a stark, beautiful, and multi-colored contrast. Enjoy a warm beverage or a beer relaxing lakeside in the afternoon before settling into your comfortable lodging in the French sector of the Park.
Today you'll take in unrivaled views over the French Valley. To the west, you can gaze at Cuernos, Espada, Hoja, and Mascara Mountains. To the east, the French Glacier overhangs Mount Paine Grande. To the North, the jagged Fortaleza and Sharks Fin Peaks stand out against the sky. Furthermore, the Valley is immersed in a Nothofagus forest filled with flowering trees and vegetation that change colors in Autumn. You'll venture on an 8-10hr hike up to 2500 feet and see Paine Grande, one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, before resting at your modest, comfortable lodging in the Paine Grande Sector.
Glacier Grey is the largest glacier in Torres del Paine National Park, measuring 4 miles wide, 100 ft tall, and 12 miles long. Its floating icebergs and glacial moraines are just as picturesque as the glacier itself, which tumbles down the massive Southern Ice Field. Walking 8-10 hrs with up to 1000 ft elevation gain, take in the breath-taking lookout point. Cross Pehoe Lake via catamaran before heading on to your lodge for well-deserved R&R.
At the appropriate time today, you'll be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Santiago to connect to your international departure.
