Matias Sepulveda,Destination Expert

While he now calls Berlin, Germany home, Matias was born and raised in Rancagua, Chile – a small city where “mountains are always on the horizon and the possibilities for weekend road trips are endless.” When he was 18, he moved to Santiago, Chile’s capital, to study theatre. After graduating he headed to New York City to further his studies at a conservatory for film acting. He ended up meeting people from all over the world, staying for nine years, and founding his own photography business.

As an actor, Matias has appeared in plays in Santiago and New York, done endless “extra” work on film sets, and starred in dozens of commercials – including one that had him jumping out of a cake and stripping down to his underwear. “It went completely viral,” he remembers. “It was quite embarrassing seeing huge billboards of my half naked self every time I took the subway… But I used the paycheck to travel to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia so it was worth it.”

And that, really, is the point. Ever since an exchange trip to the UK when he was 15, travel has been the driving force in Matias’ life. Highlights include swimming with pink river dolphins in the Brazilian Amazon, visiting Gullfoss Waterfall in the depths of the Icelandic winter, and being chased by a hippo along the Mara River in Kenya.
