Experience Egypt’s 2027 Solar Eclipse in the Land of Pharaohs

Hero Image

Experience Egypt like never before on our exclusive 2027 eclipse tour. Where ancient wonders meet a rare celestial event, and the skies above Luxor darken in a moment of unforgettable magic.

Egypt has always captured the imagination of travelers. The colossal pyramids of Giza, the golden mask of Tutankhamun, the temples carved into desert rock – it’s a land where the ancient feels eternal.

But in August 2027, something rare and fleeting will cast new wonder over this timeless place: a total solar eclipse, visible in its full glory from Luxor, heartland of the ancient world.

To mark this extraordinary celestial event, we’re offering a one-time small-group departure from July 29 to August 7, 2027. With a maximum of 15 guests this journey pairs the epic with the intimate; combining front-row access to the eclipse of the decade with an in-depth exploration of Egypt’s most iconic sites, from the Pyramids to the Nile.

Pyramids, museums and mausoleums

Your adventure begins in Cairo, a metropolis that pulses with energy despite being home to the world’s most recognizable monuments. From a base near the Giza Plateau, you’ll journey into the desert to stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu (the only surviving wonder of the ancient world) and the enigmatic Sphinx – its gaze eternal and unreadable. Nearby, the ruins of Memphis and the Step Pyramid of Saqqara will take you back to the very roots of Egyptian architecture.

But it’s not just the past that captivates in Cairo. At the brand-new Grand Egyptian Museum, perched near the pyramids, you’ll encounter one of the most impressive archaeological collections ever assembled, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, dazzlingly displayed under one roof for the first time.

With the golden desert still fresh in your memory, you'll fly south to Luxor, where ancient Thebes once ruled supreme. Here, you’ll board the elegant Beau Rivage Nile cruise boat for six nights of slow, luxurious travel along the river that gave birth to Egyptian civilization.

The main event: Eclipse 2027

On August 2, 2027, the sky over Luxor will go dark in the middle of the day. A total solar eclipse, lasting over six minutes, will sweep across this part of the globe. It’s set to be the longest total eclipse visible from a major travel destination this century.

Sunglasses watching total lunar eclipse

From a carefully selected vantage point near Luxor, you’ll witness the celestial spectacle in its full dramatic arc: the dimming light, the stillness in the air, the plunging temperature, and then … totality. As the sun’s corona blazes around the silhouette of the moon, the temples and tombs of Luxor will fall under a shadow that the ancients would have seen as divine.

You’ll never forget this rare and powerful intersection of science and soul.

A river of gods and kings

Before and after the eclipse, your Nile cruise will serve as the thread that ties Egypt’s greatest treasures together. On the river’s West Bank, you’ll descend into the richly decorated tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried in secret chambers carved deep into rock. You’ll stand before the Colossi of Memnon, visit the cliffside Temple of Hatshepsut, and explore the vivid hieroglyphs of Medinat Habu.

Cruise in luxury along the Nile River!

Across the river, you’ll wander through the grand hypostyle halls of Karnak, where columns the size of redwoods still support the sky, and Luxor Temple, glowing under evening lights as if lit by the gods themselves.

Southward, the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo emerge from the banks of the Nile, their carvings remarkably intact. At Edfu, you’ll meet Horus, the falcon-headed god of kingship and at Kom Ombo, you’ll explore a rare double temple, shared by the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris.

Aswan and the end of the Nile

The cruise ends at Aswan. Here, you’ll have a choice: take a serene felucca sailing trip, catching the breeze in a traditional wooden boat, or journey deep into the desert to the awe-inspiring temples of Abu Simbel, built by Ramses II and moved, stone by stone, to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

Later, regroup for a visit to the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and reachable only by boat. You’ll also stop at the Aswan High Dam, a feat of modern engineering that changed the course of the Nile itself.

Your final night on the cruise brings you back to Luxor, with free time to reflect, revisit, or wander on your own. You’ll then fly back to Cairo for one last encounter with the living soul of Egypt: the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, a whirlwind of color, scent, and sound where traders have been selling spices, silver, and stories for centuries.
